Additional AKC FSS Information
(New Information is in this color)
02/23/10 – Effective immediately, Foundation Stock Service Guidelines were amended to lower the number of dogs required to request the Miscellaneous Class:
According to the AKC's Mari-Beth O'Neill, AVP of SS:
"The minimum enrollment in FSS to be eligible to move into the Miscellaneous Class is 150 as a result of the February Board Meeting. A clarification was requested by the Board and the (AKC) website will be updated shortly. Dogs with less than a complete three generation pedigree will remain in FSS, these dogs may compete in Companion Events. Even once the breed reaches regular stats, the dogs without three generation pedigrees remain in FSS and are still eligible to be bred, progeny that obtain a complete three generation pedigree would be converted to full registration."

The Mudi and the AKC FSS (2004)
The Mudi has been accepted into the American Kennel Club
Foundation Stock Service Program!!
Mudi owners are now able to send in applications for recording of their Mudi in the AKC FSS program. Please visit the AKC website or the AMA AKC webpage for further information.
This is a wonderful accomplishment by the AMA to protect and preserve an already small gene pool in a rare breed, by being able to record USA born Mudi's with the AKC FSS program, we therefore will have the ability for these USA born dogs to be recognized by many other FCI Kennel Clubs around the world. Mudi breeders in the USA will no longer only be able to take from the worldwide Mudi population, but now also will be able to return genes to the gene pool as well.
The AMA would like to thank the AKC for accepting the Mudi breed into the FSS program and enabling it to have a brighter and more stable future in the USA and the world. The AMA would also like to extend a special thank you to Patricia Lejman, FSS Coordinator, for all of her work to help this goal for the Mudi in the USA to be achieved.
